I know, I know. It’s been a while, but here I am finally. I figure I get my act together about every three months to write updates. I did intend to write sooner to tell everyone that we had a great Christmas. So…we had a great Christmas! It was peaceful and happy with good food and family.
Christmas fell on a good day, as we needed to start chemo again the next day, so Mia was feeling well. She just loves the holiday season, and her Christmas spirit was contagious. She really helped Andrew see all the beauty of the season, now that he is old enough to start to understand. They both wanted to listen to Christmas music, have a fire in the fireplace, make cookies, wrap presents, decorate the tree and, of course, see the Big Man in Red.
We saw Santa at his usual stop at the mall, but we also got a very special in-home visit with him just before Christmas. He stayed and talked with the kids and brought some little presents in addition to the ones he left on his visit Christmas Eve. He even gave them each a copy of The Polar Express, straight from the North Pole, signed by himself on the front page. It was a VERY special visit!
We also had a very special weekend last week. The Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation granted Mia a Small Miracle. She chose to take us to the Shedd Aquarium where we had a special guide and front row seats to the dolphin show. We spent the rest of the weekend in downtown Chicago and we all had a great time.
We are trying to plan some other fun things, to give us all something to look forward to. We hope to be feeling well enough to go to Canada during Spring Break to see our new baby cousin, Abigail. We are also planning another Disney trip in May. We had such a great Make-a-Wish trip there, we needed an encore.
Mia also celebrates her First Holy Communion in May. She completed the sacrament of Reconciliation this January, however our personal religious education teacher and her family moved to Utah last month! It will be up to Mommy to complete Mia’s Communion training. We miss you Sue and family!
